Sabitzer & Laimer meet the Red Bull DriftBrothers
Full speed ahead in the 'City of Iron'! Marcel Sabitzer and Konrad Laimer met up with the legendary DriftBrothers Elias and Joe Hountdondji at Ferropolis and were taken for a spin in 620 and 730 PS motors in between the huge excavators at the festival site.
RED BULL DRIFTBROTHERS:
Elias, a qualified air and space engineer, heads all of the nine-member DriftBrothers team's technical projects. Every chassis construction, design and car adjustment goes through Eli. Like his brother Joe, he has been involved in competitive drifting for over eight years.
Joe is one of the most successful drift pilots in Europe. He is repsonsible for planing and strategic decisions in the DriftBrothers team. A former basketball player in Germany's second division, the 36-year-old has been behind the steering wheel of his beloved Nissan 200SX - known as "Dark White" - since 2009, at least when he's not away working for BMW or tinkering in the garage. "Drifting is the best thing you can do in a car," says Joe. "You start driving, turn sideways on, and the rest it pure freedom and flow."

Our Message
A crazy stadium party to celebrate reaching the Champions League semi-final in August. A family-friendly party in front of the Red Bull Arena to mark the start of the season. Away trips to Manchester or Liverpool with thousands of RBL fans. Those were some our football dreams over the past twelve months.
Instead, we’ve had the pandemic and lockdown. Home-schooling and team calls. Mandatory masks and disinfectant spray. Many supposedly important things have had to suddenly take a back seat.
This difficult time has pushed every one of us to our limits in different ways, but it has shown that we will not be discouraged. We will stand together and make the best of this situation alongside one another.
However, it is here that professional football enjoys a privilege. We are permitted to continue to pursue our profession and passion. And we know that for many, football is an incredibly important distraction from everyday life. Football is known to be the most beautiful distraction in the world, and in such difficult times, distractions are all the more important. Here at RB Leipzig, we want to inspire emotion. We want to make a difference.
We want to inspire our fans
Inspire them to believe in themselves and to remain optimistic. Inspire them to realise their own dreams, no matter how big or small. Inspire them to overcome difficulties. Inspire them to realise what they’re really capable of.

- This also includes admitting mistakes and drawing motivation from setbacks. You have to get back up after being knocked down. My path has always been marked by challenges both big and small in my job and in my private life. I want to be a role model and show our fans that you can overcome challenges and realise your own dreams.”

- “We have grown really quickly as a club and have enjoyed constant success since 2009. Five years ago we were playing in the Bundesliga 2 and now we are back among the top 16 teams in Europe. We are proud of what we have achieved, but above all we are looking to the future. How can we improve and become even more efficient? What aims are we pursuing in the short, medium and long-term? Is it necessary to adjust those goals?Finding answers to those questions drives us on and everyone at RB Leipzig approaches the challenge with passion every single day. As an employer, it’s important to us that our co-workers develop and improve their skills so that everyone can reach their maximum potential. The “You can do anything’ slogan is therefore a firm part of our company. With this long-term campaign, we want to provide inspiration to all those who follow us.”
We want to use this motto to inspire and support our fans, especially in the following areas:
Football schools:
Our football school employs a new concept. Through this restructuring, we are able to cater to the individual needs of children and teenagers much better. It all depends on their abilities, interests and expectations. Participants don’t just attend camps, they also become part of a footballing community with regular offers, tutorials, exercises and individual coaching sessions.
Sport & fitness as a free-time activity:
Not everyone is born to become a Bundesliga football player, but everyone should have the opportunity to practice sport in a good environment, whether that’s at school, on the streets, at a club, in a gym or just out in the woods. What we have in store for you is very exciting.
eSports:
Gaming is a constant part of our everyday life. Our eSports team “RBLZ Gaming” is a group of young, ambitious sportspeople who want to achieve the maximum on the virtual football pitch. They train for that every day. Our eSports players can also share their skills and experiences for the benefit of others through tutorials, workshops and events.
Health:
Exercise, a nutritious diet and a good work-life balance; these are key factors for a good standard of living, not only for our athletes but for everyone involved with the club. We want to share our knowledge in this area with our fans as well. We are therefore continuing to support the “Football Fans in Training” initiative. Fans can get active with our coached courses, which last several weeks and help people to lose weight and get fitter.
Networking:
Whether it’s knowledge of training, sports medicine, teaching, economics, communication or marketing – as a professional football club we operate in lots of different areas and can call upon a high level of expertise and a large network. Our fans should also be able to enjoy the benefits of that, for example, through events, workshops or internships.
Creativity:
Creativity is our engine, both on and off the pitch. We love new ideas, approaches and solutions, especially when they help to shape our digital development. Social media, photography, graphic design, creative writing, video content, campaigns, and events – we want to help our fans develop their creativity and implement their great ideas. Recently, for example, some fans have provided us with strong ideas for the stadium redesign.
Education:
The Red Bull Arena will become a centre for education. Lernort Stadion e.V. will work together with RB Leipzig and the Leipzig fan project to offer an extracurricular education for young people in difficult circumstances. We also want to take responsibility with campaigns aimed at teaching and encouraging an equal society, for example through campaigns like “Unser Ball ist bunt” (“Our ball is colourful”). We want to inspire people for positive change.

Perhaps my most important life motto is "To dare is to do". Be courageous, be forward thinking and believe in the things you want to achieve. This is the mindset we instill into our players.
