Xaver Zembrod joins RB Leipzig as an assistant coach

The 54-year-old joins from Bayer 04 Leverkusen | Zembrod signs a three-year deal | Previously assistant coach at Leverkusen, 1. FC Kaiserlautern and Hannover 96

Xaver Zembrod joins RB Leipzig as an assistant coach, making the move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The 54-year-old has signed a three-year deal until 2023 and is the final addition to our coaching staff. He joins Julian Nagelsmann's staff alongside fellow assistant coaches Moritz Volz and Dino Toppmöller, fitness coaches Kai Kraft, Daniel Behlau and Ruwen Faller, and goalkeeper coach Frederik Gößling. 

Zembrod spent three and a half years as an assistant coach at Bayer 04 (March 2017 to August 2020). Prior to that, he was employed in the same role at 1. FC Kaiserslautern (June 2016 to December 2016) and at Hannover 96 (January 2014 to April 2015). The Pfullendorf native was also part of the coaching staff at Hoffenheim's youth academy for four years. During his playing career, Zembrod made 78 appearances in the Regionalliga for SV Darmstadt and Stuttgarter Kickers. 

Xaver Zembrod has completed his Football Coaching License and also has a degree in sports science, sports medicine and education.
