Marcel Sabitzer has been named the new captain of the team | Vice captain is Péter Gulácsi | Yussuf Poulsen named third captain | Coaching team has also established the new team council

RB Leipzig named their new captain for the 20/21 season on Saturday. Marcel Sabitzer will take the armband, with Péter Gulácsi and Yussuf Poulsen named vice captain and third captain respectively.

The coaching team also named a team council for the new season, which will be made up of the three captains alongside Willi Orban, Marcel Halstenberg and Dayot Upamecano.

Marcel Sabitzer will lead the team out as captain in the new season.

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann on the annoucement of captaincy:

Due to the injury to Willi Orban, Marcel Sabitzer often captained the side last season. He has showed, also in important games, that he can take on the responsibility.

As a long-serving captain, Willi will remain an important leader for us and will of course continue to be part of the team council.

This is a recognition of the performances of the players who have been chosen. It is important for our future that these six players lead the way and guide our young group in the right direction.

Péter Gulácsi was voted as vice captain by the team.
Yussuf Poulsen will be the team's third captain for the new season.
