"We were closer to the win!"

Julian Nagelsmann, Yussuf Poulsen and Péter Gulácsi react to 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt

Yussuf Poulsen:

  • "We expected more of ourselves today. We conceded a silly goal where we underestimated the situation. After that, we were chasing the game. Then it was difficult against a Frakfurt side who defended well.

After that, we didn't do badly, deservedly got the equaliser and almost went ahead. We know that Frankfurt are dangerous on the counter attack and therefore didn't want to risk too much at the end.

We're not completely satisfied with the point. We have to do better next week."

Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "It wasn't too bad of a game from us. In the first half we did well, but didn't create enough clear chances. We were dominant but then conceded a goal where we just simply didn't defend well.

In the second half we were the better tea, and were closer to the win - I had the impression that we wanted the victory more.

In comparison to pre-season, you can definitely see progress. We can be pleased with that, especially given the schedule and limited training opportunities.

We want fresh legs going into the PSG game. After the home game, the pressure is on them."

Péter Gulácsi:

  • "Against Frankfurt, the aim was picking up three points. We knew what we were up against and above all, how Frankfurt play at home. After Bayern's draw against Werder Bremen, we knew that we could have pulled level with them today. However there is still a lot of games left in the season and we will get more chances – hopefully we can make up for the two dropped points when we face Bayern in two weeks.

The goal we conceded was unforced. Eintracht sat deep and compact, and were very uncomfortable to play against. It was tough to break them down. We had to do better with the few chances that we had in the game."
