3-0 road win against Schalke!

Everything went to plan on Saturday afternoon. Julian Nagelsmann’s team attacked the game from the first minute and dominated the play. Dominating possession and creating chances, it was Nordi Mukiele who headed in with the last move of the half to put his side ahead (45+2’).

The second half began as the first one ended, with Leipzig on top. Alexander Sørloth and Nkunku had efforts saved by Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann. The team were eventually rewarded for their strong performance. After some fantastic link-up play between Dani Olmo and Angeliño, the full back played in captain Marcel Sabitzer, who slotted home at the near post (73’). Shortly before full timed, centre back Willi Orban beat three men in the air to head home Angeliño’s corner (87’).

47th minute: Almost the perfect start to the second half. Sørloth beats Mustafi and finds himself one-on-one with Fährmann. Unfortunately, the goalkeeper stands strong to save.

51st minute: Some brilliant work from Nkunku, who then shoots towards the top left corner, but Fährmann saves again.

63rd minute: A bit of danger at RBL’s end. A cross is not fully dealt with by Gulácsi and Matthew Hoppe wins possession. However, the attacker is not in a good position to strike on goal and Gulácsi is able to recollect.

73rd minute: GOOOAAL FOR RBL! Dani Olmo plays Angeliño in on goal. One on one, the ful back has the vision and composure to slide the ball across to Sabitzer. The captain remains cool and finishes first time at the near post. What a goal!

87th minute: GOOAAL FOR RBL! Willi Orban puts the game beyond doubt with his third goal of the season!

The corner is delivered by Angeliño. Orban is strong in the air and comes out on top against three rival defenders to net our third goal. A fantastic effort!
