RB Leipzig defeated 3-1 by Dortmund

RBL with solid first half | BVB score three in second half | Sørloth pulls one back | RBL remain second in table

BVB come out on top in Saturday’s Topspiel. RB Leipzig suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund and record their first loss after a run of 8 games unbeaten.

The team delivered a solid first half in which they were the better side, however chances were hard to come by.

The second half was controlled by the away side over long stretches, and BVB took the lead through Jadon Sancho (55’) before an Erling Haaland double (71’, 84’). Alexander Sørloth scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute with the first Bundesliga goal of his career.

65th minute: The visitors keep their foot on the gas. Sancho plays in Haaland, who fires towards goal but a world-class stop from Gulácsi delfects the ball onto the bar.

67th minute: Post! Olmo drives through the Dortmund defence and fires low and hard to the far post, but the ball strikes the woodwork and bounces clear.

71. MINUTE, TOR BVB: Haaland behauptet sich gegen vier Gegenspieler und legt nach links raus, die Flanke findet den bereits wieder eingelaufenen BVB-Knipser, der am langen Pfosten zum 0:2 einnickt.

84th minute: Goal for BVB: Reus plays the ball cleverly behind the RBL line, Haaland times his run to stay onside and takes the ball wide of Gulácsi to slot home. 3-0.

90th minute: GOAL FOR RBL. Angeliño crosses again from the left, Sørloth meets it and his header is saved low by Bürki. Our attacker gets to the rebound and finishes for his first ever Bundesliga goal. 3-1.
