Sancho (5', 45') and Haaland (28') give Borussia Dortmund clear first-half lead | RBL control second half but only one goal through Olmo (71') | Nkunu (46') and Forsberg (70') denied by woodwork | Haaland secures BVB win late on (88')

The wait for the first major trophy goes on. RB Leipzig suffered a 4-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Pokal final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

The first half couldn't have gone any worse for RBL, with Dortmund going into the break three goals to the good as they registered their fifth DFB-Pokal trophy in their history. Jadon Sancho opened the scoring (5'), before Erling Haaland doubled the lead (28'). Sancho scored his second of the game on the stroke of half time (45+1').

In the second half, the Bulls came out of the break much more determined and gave their all to pull off a miracle. Christopher Nkunku (46') and Emil Forsberg (70') were denied by the woodwork, before Dani Olmo finally reduced the deficit (71'). Unfortunately, the team were unable to convert the wealth of chances into more goals, and Dortmund finally secured the win on the counter attack through Haaland.

Congratulations to Borussia Dortmund.
