Our first ever DFB-Pokal

But the big upset was pulled off! The Red Bulls knocked out VfL in the 1st round of the DFB Pokal with a 3-2 victory, thanks to a hat trick from Daniel Frahn.
Promotion to the 3. Liga
2nd June 2013
At the full-time whistle, there was no holding back! The Red Bulls finally achieved their goal. In a relegation-playoff thriller against Sportfreunde Lotte, RB Leipzig won promotion to the 3. Liga. 2,500 RBL fans celebrated like crazy and created an atmosphere that will make your hairs stand on end!
Christian Müller, one of our promotion heroes from that team, looks back on what was probably the most emotional game in the club's history:
- "I was able to experience it all myself. We went to the small stadium in Lotte after the 2-0 win in the first leg and had a very good feeling. We didn't expect the game to turn out to be an emotional roller coaster. We quickly found ourselves 1-0 down. We were afraid of losing everything. Our coach Alexander Zorniger only substituted defensive players, while Lotte were throwing everything into attack. In injury time, the home team scored their second goal and we went into extra time. It was a sucker punch! But we pulled ourselves together, scored two goals and were promoted to the 3. Liga!"
25th April 2015
The reaction of the RBL fans? Magical.
Der Aufstiegssieg gg. den KSC!
"Wir sind E1ns"
8th May 2016
It's crazy! There were so many emotions in that game. If you look at the whole season, promotion is highly deserved. After the 2-0, I could hardly wait and could hardly concentrate on the game. We can be very proud and really celebrate now - with the whole team and the fans!

Leipzig is red and white - promotion party
18th May 2016
A convoy from the Red Bull Academy to Marktplatz was followed by a ceremony and programme of events, during which the RBL fans once again celebrated the players and coaches.
It was incredible. The fans were outstanding - I have no words to describe my feelings at the moment. The fans' support is just fantastic!
- Emil Forsberg
It's almost unbelievable how many people came to our promotion party at the Marktplatz today and wanted to celebrate with us, even though it's a national holiday. I'm so happy to be here and to be able to live this.
- Yussuf Poulsen
Die Aufstiegsfeier der Roten Bullen!
The Champions League dream
6th May 2017
Once again, Berlin's Olympiastadion was the scene of an important part of RBL history. With a 4-1 win at Hertha BSC, we qualified for the Champions League in our first season in the Bundesliga with three games to go until the end of the season. In front of 62,301 spectators, Timo Werner and Davie Selke each scored a brace to clinch a place in Europe's top competition. The Champions League chants rang out from the packed away section.
RB Leipzig in the UCL
13th September 2017
In September 2017 came our Champions League debut! The 40,068 spectators in the sold-out Red Bull Arena were treated to a thriller against AS Monaco and a historic goal in the 33rd minute: Emil Forsberg made club history when he made it 1-0. Even though it was only enough for a 1-1 draw in the end, our first game on the European stage will always be unforgettable!
It was an incredible feeling and a very emotional moment. Unfortunately, we conceded the equaliser straight after. Monaco are a strong opponent - the draw is fair.
Back to Europe
12th May 2018
The team didn't want to leave anything to chance, as Dayot Upamecano scored after just two minutes to give Leipzig the lead. A 3-1 half-time advantage incresed to 6-2 after the second half. The 9,000 travelling fans in the sunny Olympiastadion saw six goals from their team for the first time in the Bundesliga and were able to celebrate qualification to the Europa League.
Berlin, Berlin - RBL in DFB-Pokal final
25th May 2019
And this support began even ahead of kick-off at the fan festival at Berlin's Breitscheidplatz in the afternoon. One highlight: the RBL fan march to the Olympiastadion. But even far away from the travelling fans in Berlin and the 24,000 in the stadium, the fans who stayed at home brought the cup fever to Leipzig at the public viewing in front of the Red Bull Arena.

That victory was for you! To say thank you for supporting us faithfully even in these times that have been so difficult for everyone. And even if you couldn't be there, somehow you were - in our hearts. To this today.
This is happiness. I am very proud of the squad!
