RB Leipzig out of the Champions League | Liverpool win second-leg again with goals from Salah (70’) and Mané (74’) | Alexander Sørloth hits the crossbar

Mission Champions League ends at the round of 16! RB Leipzig suffered a second 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in Budapest and were knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16.

RB Leipzig struggled to match the Reds from the very start, but we gradually managed to work their way into the tie. Liverpool had slightly more chances in the first half, but, but our team also had a couple of good chances through Dani Olmo (10') and Emil Forsberg (32').

RBL's best chance of the game came in the 64th minute, when Alexander Sørloth was denied by the crossbar with his header. Shortly after, LFC decided the game with a quickfire double through Mohamed Salah (70') and Sadio Mané (74').

Congratulations to Liverpool, who were the deserved winners in each leg.

Nevertheless, we can be incredibly proud of only our third season in the Champions League.

We came second in a 'group of death' with Manchester United, Paris-Saint Germain and Istanbul Başakşehir.

This is the second time we've made it into the top 16 teams in Europe.
And we want to give it another go on the international stage again next season.
