Away defeat in Cologne! Despite more possession and chances, RB Leipzig suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of 1. FC Köln.
The Red Bulls kicked off the game in superb fashion and were close to taking the lead on several occasions early on. Despite a ten-minute spell of clear dominance, the visitors had nothing to show for it and after 45 minutes, the two sides went in with nothing between them. Leipzig with nothing to show for their control of the game so far.
RBL were dealt a sucker punch in the first minute of the second half: seemingly from nothing, the home side took the lead through a Jonas Hector header (46'). After around quarter of an hour, the scores were level again. Amadou Haidara rocketed a shot past Timo Horn from outside the area (59'). However, Köln had the perfect response. It was Jonas Hector again, who left Péter Gulácsi with no chance to double his tally and give his side the lead (61'). What followed was a hectic game, RBL throwing everything forward to find a second goal. Unfortunately, the home side held on to take all three points.
25th minute: First test for Peter Gulacsi! Köln hit on the counter attack, Jonas Hector's shot is saved comfortably by the RBL number 1.
36th minute: RBL again! Haidara plays out to the Mukiele, who is in space on the right. He goes for goal, aiming for the far left corner but sees his shot go inches wide. A chance missed.
46th minute: Köln take the lead out of nowhere. Jannes Horn with a perfect cross to Hector, who dives and heads. Gulacsi gets a hand on the ball but cannot prevent the goal.
77th minute: Angelino is involved again, driving down the left and crossing towards the area. Mukiele is there, but can't head the ball home.
90th minute: Upamecano flicks the ball on to Kluivert, who heads goalwards - it beats Horn but doesn't dip back down under the bar.
