"I'm pleased and relieved to have scored the winner!"

Alexander Sörloth, Marcel Sabitzer, Emil Forsberg and head coach Julian Nagelsmann react to the 4-3 victory away to Istanbul Basaksehir

Alexander Sørloth:

  • "Scoring the first goal for a new club is always important. It's a bit crazy that it's happened here in Istanbul. But I am incredible pleased and relieved – especially that I was able to help the team with the winning goal.
I'm very happy that we've picked up the three points. Istanbul are a really good team, they never gave up and always found a way back into the game. But we were the better team.

In such an exciting and balanced group, it was a very important win. Now we have a final against Manchester United next week, that we of course want to win!"

Marcel Sabitzer:

  • "We were very dominant in the first half but conceded an unnecessary goal. We'd discussed the opposition making that kind of cutback ahead of the game - that makes conceding such a goal more frustrating. It was a lot tighter in the second half. When you look at the figures, we had to have closed that game out earlier.

Now we have two very difficult games ahead of us, but we're in a good place. Second in the league and in control of our own destiny in the Champions League. Therefore, we can go into these games with confidence. Of course, you need a fantastic day to beat Bayern. Therefore, it is important that we regenerate well and carry out the match plan."

Emil Forsberg:

  • "We had a good first half, creating many chances. We have to be better in the final third, and see the game out more easily. If we were, we'd have scored two or three more.

Of course, we're pleased with the win. We have another final next week against Manchester United. We'll give it all we've got to win.

The game against Bayern will be a great match, but also a very difficult one. We want to come away with something. Every player lives for games like this! We're doing well and have won two in a row - we can take that positivity into the game."

Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "We're really pleased with the 3 points, especially as it was a crazy result in the end. Our first-half performance was great - we defended well and had two huge chances in the opening minutes. We created more big chances and should have been comfortably ahead at half time.
Istanbul then put more pressure on and we lost too many balls, and made it unnecessarily tight at the end. Physically and mentally, it was a tiring game. However, we believed in ourselves until the end. The three points were very important for us and we were the deserved winners.

Of course a win builds confidence. Our aim was to make sure next week's game was a final. We've done that, and now have qualification in our own hands. Also, after the return fixture we have something to put right.

It was an important goal for Alexander Sörloth. I hope it was a weight off his shoulders. It took the pressure off all of us. Now, he's probably on the up - that's usually how it is with attackers.
