"A big compliment to the team!“

Julian Nagelsmann, Yussuf Poulsen and Willi Orban react to the final game of 2020: a 3-0 victory over FC Augsburg

Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "I wasn't surprised that the team brought their all today, I know that they have that in them. The mentality that they have and that they've shown over the past six months is massive. The quality and style of our game was very impressive and makes me pleased. The only thing you could criticise today was our chance taking, as against Cologne at the weekend. However, three goals were sufficient and it was a strong end to the year from the team.

It was a tough year for everyone. We enjoy being able to carry on doing our jobs and playing football and hope that we can bring a little bit of joy to those watching on television. We know that a lot of people are struggling during these difficult times and we can consider ourselves very fortunate.“

Yussuf Poulsen:

  • "It was a top performance from us over the whole 90 minutes. We took didn't take all of our chances, but we never let up and were deservedly the 3-0 winners in the end.

We played some really good football in the second half of the year and are still in all three competitions. A big compliment should go to the team for that!

I thought back to my goal against Augsburg in the league ahead of today's game. That could be the best goal I've ever scored. Today's wasn't spectacular, but it was an important one."

Willi Orban:

  • "It wasn't easy to give everything once again after intense games and an intense year. However, we were good from the first minute and started well; we dominated possession. It was a deserved victory.

The whole team are playing really well out of possession at the moment; we're pleased with the clean sheets and they're a good basis for successful results and a successful season.

Despite the high amount of games, we're in a good place mentally – when the schedule is so busy, it's really important to stay motivated and hungry and want to play football; we're all aware of that. Our goals are clear and that's what we're working towards."
