Our youth-academy product Eric Martel will make an 18-month loan move to Austria Vienna.
The 18-year-old Germany youth international moved to RBL from the SSV Jahn Regensburg youth setup in summer 2017. Martel has made a total of 55 competitive appearances for the Leipzig U19s and U17s so far. Born in Straubing, the defender made the step up to Julian Nagelsmann's first-team squad during the 2020/21 season and made his professional debut in the DFB-Pokal win over FC Augsburg.
Wishing you all the best for your time in Austria, Eric!

Sporting director Markus Krösche:
- "Eric is a promising talent at RBL. He has regularly been training with the first team of late and earned his first minutes in the DFB-Pokal against Augburg before Christmas. We have a lot of faith in his future. What's important for him now is to get game time, which is one of the reasons that Austria Vienna is a good place for him to develop."
