"We simply weren't good enough today!"

Yussuf Poulsen, Emil Forsberg, Willi Orban and Julian Nagelsmann give their thoughts on the 3-1 defeat to FC Schalke 04

Yussuf Poulsen:

  • "Everyone has days where you aren't up to your usual standards. We had one of those today. We lacked the desire to throw ourselves into tackles and fight for the second ball - you don't get away with that against strong opposition.

We haven't lost at home for eight months, so it's obviously an unfamiliar feeling.              But to be completely honest, we simply weren't good enough today."

Emil Forsberg:

  • "We did not play well today. We made too many basic errors, gave the ball away too easily and we deserved to lose. But Schalke were still tough opponents who played really well.
It was one of those days. We will draw our conclusions from it and approach the next game differently."

Willi Orban:

  • "We would have liked to get a result today, so we're not happy about the scoreline. We played well in the first 25 minutes and had a couple of big chances. We weren't efficient enough.

We lacked concentration and consistency. We are a young team and we'll learn from this. We're playing again on Wednesday and have the chance to do better."

Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "We were coming up against tough opponents today and had three huge chances early on. We didn't spread it out wide enough today and went behind through a well-delivered set piece and a penalty.

It was always going to be tough heading into half time 2-0 down but we kept pushing in the second half and created a few chances."
