"The result doesn't really reflect the game!"

Julian Nagelsmann, Lukas Klostermann and Yussuf Poulsen share their thoughts on the Lyon defeat

Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "I think we played well - we had a lot of power and created a lot of chances. The two Lyon goals were our own fault. Mistakes like that are deadly in football, so we have to eliminate them. We had four great chances of our own, but didn't convert aby of them.
My team played with a lot of passion. Our pressing game was much better than it was against Schalke. It's a learning process for us. The team is totally open. We want to make sure we do better against Zenit."

Lukas Klostermann:

  • "The scoreline doesn't really reflect how the match went because I don't think we were two goals worse than Lyon. That makes the result all the more frustrating.

We created some good chances, but didn't take them. The mistakes that led to their goals were avoidable. We cannot afford to concede soft goals like that in the future."

Yussuf Poulsen:

  • "At this level of the game even the smallest mistakes are punished. Lyon proved that today. We weren't good enough when it came to the decisive moments in defence or attack.

We created the type of chances you would want in a Champions League game, but failed to take them. That can happen, but it cost us the points today."
