"We didn't do what we set out to do"

Julian Nagelsmann, Willi Orban, Lukas Klostermann and Marcel Halstenberg share their thoughts on the 2-1 defeat at SC Freiburg

Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "It was always going to be difficult coming here so soon after a Champions League game in which we had to give our all. Nevertheless, the second half did not go to plan.

Freiburg have been unbelievably clinical this season. On the other hand, we didn't do what we set out to do and deserve to be in the position we're in."

Willi Orban:

  • "We were good in the first half but lost our heads in the attacking third. We didn't create enough good chances. It obviously wasn't good enough from us today. We lost our way in the second half and were too hectic. It was a deserved defeat in the end."

Lukas Klostermann:

  • "Ultimately, we probably deserved to lose. We didn't manage to turn possession into goals. We weren't dangerous enough in the final third, especially in the first half."

Marcel Halstenberg:

  • "It's difficult to play against a team that sits deep like that. We weren't active enough in the last five minutes of the first half and went behind. We couldn't buy a good chance today. Freiburg kept their cool in front of goal and got the win because of it."
