"We have the chance to do better"

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann ahead of the upcoming DFB-Pokal match against Wolfsburg | Laimer could feature | Kampl unavailable | Kick-off: Wednesday, 18:30 CET

Leipzig will face VfL Wolfsburg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday night. Julian Nagelsmann's side will be looking to hand the Wolves their first loss of the season. Two weeks ago, the two teams drew 1-1 in the Bundesliga. This time around, there will be just one winner leaving the pitch after the final whistle goes.

During a pre-match press conference, head coach Julian Nagelsmann spoke about his side's recent performances, the upcoming cup match, as well as giving an update on the squad.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "It's obvious that we're not happy with our recent results in the Bundesliga. As a result, we have the responsibility and the opportunity to deliver a better performance in the DFB-Pokal.
We're up against a very strong opponent on Wednesday. Wolfsburg are solid on the pitch and can generate pressure. They also have yet to lose a game in the league this season. As a result, we're well aware of what we're up against.
We're excited to be playing in the DFB-Pokal and to be up against another strong side from the Bundesliga. We have the chance to advance to the next round and to come out on top in this match."

  • Kevin Kampl (fever) and Ibrahima Konaté (muscle strain) are unavailable.
  • Konrad Laimer (neck) is a doubt, but could still feature in the match.
  • Tyler Adams, Hannes Wolf and Patrik Schick remain on the sidelines.
