"We're going to Leverkusen to win"

Press conference with head coach Julian Nagelsmann ahead of away fixture against Leverkusen | Konrad Laimer returns from suspension | Konaté sidelined by injury for a few weeks

Points needed in Leverkusen! The Bulls are looking to end a run of two successive defeats with a win on Saturday against Bayer 04 Leverkusen (6th).
We have never lost to Bayer away from home and won 4-2 at the BayArena.

Head Coach Julian Nagelsmann:

"We have a lot of options in terms of replacing Ibrahima Konaté. Stefan Ilsanker, Nordi Mukiele, but Lukas Klostermann and Marcel Halstenberg can also play in his position. The line-up is not set in stone yet.

We have an idea of what the team will be but I will go with my gut on Saturday. There will be some fresh players coming into the team but don't expect there to be more than three or four changes.

Our pressing was much better against Lyon than it was against Schalke. It was only the last 20 minutes that I wasn't happy with because we didn't put the opposition under enough pressure and had one player in their penalty area at most. We want to put that right against Leverkusen.

Bayer are in good form and haven't conceded many goals in the league so far. We know what we have to watch out for and what areas Leverkusen like to make use of going forward.

There is always pressure in football. We are not starting to shake in our boots after the defeats. We're going to Leverkusen to win."

Team news:

Diego Demme could make his 200th competitive appearance for RB Leipzig.

Konrad Laimer returns from suspension.

Ibrahima Konaté suffered a muscle strain in his hip against Lyon and is sidelined for the time being.

Kevin Kampl is back training with the ball but is not match fit yet.

Luan Candido, Tyler Adams and Hannes Wolf are still out injured.
