Unbeaten run over! RBL lose 3-1 to Schalke

Sané (29'), Harit (43' penalty) and Matondo (58') find the net for Schalke | Forsberg's goal (our 200th in the Bundesliga) is too little, too late (84') | RBL hit the bar twice

Our unbeaten run comes to an end! This is RBL's first defeat in eight competitive games so far this season. 42,146 spectators watched on as Schalke stormed to a 3-1 victory at the Red Bull Arena.
The visitors dominated the opening exchanges of the match, but the Bulls soon started to grow into the match and a big chance fell to Marcel Sabitzer, who struck the bar (15'). Schalke took advantage of two deadball situations for their opening goals. The first came through Salif Sané when he headed home acorner (29'). Then, a VAR decision awarded Schalke a penalty, which was converted by Amine Harit and our guests headed into half time two goals to the good.
The first goal of the second half also went Schalke's way as Rabbi Matondo broke free on the counter and slotted past Gulácsi to make it 3-0 (58'). The Bulls didn't give up, though, and Marcel Halstenberg also hit the bar. Emil Forsberg managed to pull back a goal when his long range effort was fumbled by the Schalke keeper (84'), but it wasn't enough in the end.

Julian Nagelsmann made five changes to his starting XI: Marcel Halstenberg, Diego Demme, Emil Forsberg, Amadou Haidara and Yussuf Poulsen all came back into the side.
