RBL started the game unbelievably well but struggled as it wore on. The Bulls went from 3-0 up at the break to 3-2 at full time.
Julian Nagelsmann's men got off to a flying start with two very early goals from Patrik Schick (3') and Marcel Sabitzer (4'). Timo Werner then finished off a counter attack to make it 3-0 (26'). The comfortable lead remained in tact until the break and the game seemed to be over before it had ever really begun.
However, SC Paderborn came out swinging in the second half and put the Bulls under a huge amount of pressure, causing the defence a lot of problems. Streli Mamba had a goal ruled out by VAR for offside (47') but his next effort found the back of the net legally (62'). Klaus Gjasula then pulled another one back (73') and it looked like the Bulls might be in trouble as the hosts continued to push for the equaliser. There were chances at both ends in the closing stages of what had become an extremely tense match. However, the score remained 3-2 until the final whistle and RBL went home with all three points.
62nd minute: Goal for Paderborn. Mamba again, reduces the deficit for the hosts - 1-3.
