All square in top-of-the-table clash! 42,146 fans watched on as RBL secured their place at the top of the Bundesliga with an incredibly exciting 1-1 draw against reigning champions FC Bayern München.
The Bulls did not get off to a good start as Robert Lewandowski was put clean through after just three minutes and slotted the ball past Pèter Gulàcsi to open the scoring for the visitors. Bayern proceeded to dominate the play and had several chances to extend their lead early on. Just before half time, and against the run of play, Yussuf Poulsen then won a penalty. Emil Forsberg stepped up to the spot and hammered the equaliser home confidently with the last kick of the half (45+3').
The goal turned things around for the hosts and RBL came out swinging after the break. There were several chances to go ahead but none of them were converted, mainly due to the shotstopping abilities of Manuel Neuer. It was end-to-end stuff in the second half and Bayern had plenty of opportunities of their own. Thankfully Péter Gulácsi was there time and again to deny them the winner. Matheus Cunha, Christopher Nkunku and Diego Demme all came off the bench hoping to make the difference but despite the best efforts of both teams, the game ended in a draw.
