In the first half, Gladbach was the more dangerous side going forward, and hit this front through Alassane Plea (24') after a good team move. A mix-up in the Leipzig defence gave Jonas Hofmann the chance to double Gladbach's lead, which he gratefully took (35').
After two changes at half time, Leipzig came out for the second half much the better team. Substitute Patrik Schick pulled one back for the home side. Plea recieved two quick yellow cards for dissent, reducing the away side to ten men (60'). Christopher Nkunku won us the point with a wonderful strike from the edge of the 18-yard box (89').
