2-1 win and third place secured!

Leipzig victorious on the final matchday | Qualified for the Champions League for the third time | Timo Werner becomes record goalscorer | Debuts for two academy products

Ending the season on a high! RB Leipzig finish third in the Bundesliga after a deserved 2-1 win over Augsburg on the final day. The Bulls have no qualified for their third Champions League season. Timo Werner bagged a brace, becoming the club's all-time record goalscorer on 95!

Leipzig, with Ibrahima Konaté and Yvon Mvogo starting, dominated the first 45 minutes. Nordi Mukiele had the Bulls' first big chance in the ninth minute. Werner opened the scoring in Augsburg after rounding 'keeper Koubek (28').

Chances were few and far between to start the second half. Though there was some confusion as Augsburg defender was shown a red card for a foul on Nordi Mukiele. After a lengthy VAR review, the decision was overturned. FCA took advantage and got themselves level through a brilliant Ruben Vargas strike (71'). But Julian Nagelsmann's men found the perfect reply, and Werner scored the winner with his final touch as an RB Leipzig player (80').

The Bulls has more cause for celebration, because youngsters Dennis Borkowski and Tom Krauss made their Bundesliga debuts.
