"We are incredibly proud. What a performance!"

All the reaction following our sensational 2-1 quarterfinal win against Atlético Madrid| Head coach Julian Nagelsmann, match-winner Tyler Adams and Yussuf Poulsen offer their comments on the match

Julian Nagelsmann is proud of his side's performance.

Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "We're very happy and I'm so proud of the group. We defended with a lot of passion and were the better team against a very good and experienced side. We were brilliant.

We got off to a strong start and were highly-motivated. The boys stayed calm, which is great to see. I was happy that the match didn't go into added time. This way, we can save our strength for the upcoming game.

Paris Saint-Germain are a top-level side with a top-notch coach. They have a lot of quality and are a threat right until the final minute. You saw that during the match against Atalanta Bergamo. They have a star-studded squad. We will need to give it 100 per cent, but we are looking forward to the match and will go in highly-motivated."
Tyler Adams came off the bench to score his first-ever goal for RB Leipzig!
It was a historic goal as well: Adams is the first American to score in a Champions League quarterfinal.

Tyler Adams:

  • "I wanted to provide some energy after coming off the bench and think I managed to do that. I'm not really a goalscorer, but of course it makes me proud to score such an important goal in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Now we're all really excited for the semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain. They're a strong team and we're looking forward to the match."

Yussuf Poulsen:

  • "You couldn't write a better story. It is a huge day and an amazing moment - we have to enjoy it. Another fantastic game is around the corner. We were the better team and are deservedly through to the semi-final.

All the players brought their best game, and we did a lot of things perfectly. Joao Felix is a brilliant player, but after his goal we kept our composure, and created more chances for ourselves.

We were really well prepared. For a lot of player's this wasn't their first time playing in the Champions League. Two years ago, we didn't play very well but today we were fantastically prepared and played brilliantly."
Another milestone for Yussuf Poulsen: from the 3. Liga days all the way to the Champions League semi-finals with RB Leipzig.

Marcel Sabitzer:

  • "We had a solid game plan, which we owe to our head coach. When we let the ball do the work, it caused Atlético some problems. But, the deciding factor was that we did not want to return home already. We want to stay here. We're incredibly happy to be in the semi-finals.

Atlético aren't just any old team, they have immense quality. Their squad depth is incredible.

We know that we have another tough task ahead of us when we face Paris. With the quality of player that they have, we know that we will need to be on high alert. But, for now we are just going to enjoy our win."
Marcel Sabitzer assisted Dani Olmo's goal, and has now had a hand in seven goals this Champions League season.
He also provided the key pass to allow Angeliño to set up Tyler Adams' game-winning goal.
