"We can keep up with Bayern"

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann, Timo Werner, Péter Gulácsi and Marcel Halstenberg gave their reactions after the 0-0 draw with Bayern.

Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "I'm happy with our performance overall. We had the better chances in the second half and could have won the game. We were confident, defended high up the pitch and controlled the game well. Timo Werner's chance wasn't that easy as the ball popped up and he was running at full pace. Timo is obviously capable of scoring goals like that though and I'm sure he will do so in the coming games.

We can keep up with Bayern if we bring our power onto the pitch. This was a good sign for the future. We want to finish in the top four and the point today was an important one in the hunt for that."

Timo Werner:

  • "The way the first 20 minutes went, it felt like it was only a matter of time before they scored. We recovered after that and then played a lot better in the second half.

You have to take chances like mine if you want to win in Munich. Nevertheless, we carried on working hard and showed a positive attitude in the second half. We can be pleased with the point."

Péter Gulácsi:

  • "It was clear to everyone that Bayern were the better team in the first half. We had chances to win the game after the break though. I think it was a good performance overall. We're very happy to come away with a point.

We're still in a good position in the title race and were able to up our performance levels from recent weeks. We played with emotion and aggression today and that's how we want to carry on performing in the coming weeks."

Marcel Halstenberg:

  • "It was difficult to get into the game. We knew that Bayern would to come out and dominate. We managed to produce 75 minutes of emotional football after a rocky start though. At the end of the day, we can be very happy with a point."
