"We're hungry!"

Julian Nagelsmann und Konrad Laimer on the upcoming Champions League match against Zenit St. Petersburg | Ademola Lookman is back to full fitness

Mission Champions League – Episode IV. The Red Bulls enter the latter stages of their UEFA Champions League group matches Mittwoch (Anstoß: 18.55 Uhr) with a trip to Russian champions Zenit St. Petersburg.
Julian Nagelsmann and Konrad Laimer talk about the upcoming away game and the current squad situation in the pre-match press conference.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann:

  • "I'm expecting a similar match to the home game. I assume that Leipzig will defend with a high-line. Our main objective defensively will be to stop them getting the ball into Artem Dzyuba.

We can take the confidene we've gained from the past two matches into the game. However, in football you need to prove yourself in every single game. Having said that, you can tell that the boys are hungry."

Konrad Laimer:

  • "We've shown what we're capable of over the past two games but we know that need to put in similar performance tomorrow. It will be important that we stick to our game plan right from the off. If we do that, we can definitely take home the three points tomorrow. We know that it's a very balanced group and anyone can beat anyone. It's crucial that we defend well again tomorrow."

The current squad situation:

  • Ademola Lookman is back to full fitness after a pelvis injury.
  • Amadou Haidara is currently on two yellow cards. One more and he will be banned for the following match.
  • Patrik Schick and Ibrahima Konaté are still injured.
  • Tyler Adams and Hannes Wolf are still recovering from long-term injuries.
  • The referee for the game is Orel Grinfeld from Israel
