"Games against Bayern are always something special!"

Interview: Yussuf Poulsen and Péter Gulácsi ahead of the Bayern match | What makes this game so special | How we'll need to play in order to take something from the game

RB Leipzig have a big weekend ahead of them, as the team heads into Sunday evening's top-of-the-table clash against first-placed Bayern away at the Allianz Arena (KO: 18:00 CET). What approach is Julian Nagelsmann's side taking into the match? We sat down for an interview with Péter Gulácsi and Yussuf Poulsen to find out the answer.

We have a real cracker of match ahead of us. What is it about the match against Bayern that makes it such a special game for you?

Poulsen: Games against Bayern are always something special. We're all really looking to this duel. After all, it's not the first time that we're facing each other as the first- and second-placed sides in the table.

Gulácsi: Good goalkeeping will be a must against a team like that. Of course, I'm hoping that I won't have very much to do. However, we're away against the record champions. I will try to play my best. If we all manage to do so, then we will have a good chance of picking up points in Munich.

"Recently, we've been lacking that finishing touch in front of goal."

How will we have to play on Sunday in order to take something off Bayern?

Poulsen: Our last three games have shown that we know how to play good football. Unfortunately, the results weren't what we might have hoped. But, we were still able to create enough chances in order to win. Recently, we've been lacking that finishing touch in front of goal."

Gulácsi: Bayern have no weaknesses, even if they conceded three goals in the DFB-Pokal recently. That's why we will need to remain compact and fully-focused on defence, in order to take advantage of our counter-attacks. Robert Lewandowski is the complete package up top for Bayern. We will try as a team to not allow him any chances.

"We haven't been very successful in Munich as of late. We want to change that."

How important is Sunday's game for the club as a whole?

Poulsen: It's first versus second. If we want to compete with the top teams, then these kinds of six-pointers are important in setting the tone for the remainder of the season.

Gulácsi: It's a special match. We haven't been very successful in Munich as of late. We want to change that. Every player has a chance to prove themselves in match like this. At the same time, it's great that we're currently in a position to play such a highly-rated match. That's why we're looking forward to it.

Ready for Bayern!

RB Leipzig: Das sind wir.
