Die Roten Bullen welcome Hannover 96 to the Red Bull Arena on Saturday (15:30 CEST) as the club searches for its first Bundesliga win of the season.
Ahead of the clash, Head Coach Ralf Rangnick spoke about Saturday’s opponents and the situation regarding certain players in the squad.
- “During the international break, we have worked on our defensive and offensive approaches to the game, placing the highest importance on depth. In training, we have worked on implementing more crosses into our game and to try to get as many players in the box as possible.
The players have been brilliant in the three intense training sessions that we have had together. They’ve shown a lot of passion in training. The players who were on international duty have now returned – all of them with successful experiences under their belts.
Hannover will try to contain us defensively in the spaces on the pitch before posing problems on the counter attack. We will require a good balance between attack and defence against them. Most importantly, we will need to defend well in and around our penalty area.
We have to reduce the amount of chances our opponents create and to defend better as a team.
We are hoping for our first win of the season on Saturday to boost our confidence for the forthcoming matches.”
- Marcel Halstenberg won’t be in the squad to face Hannover 96.
- Kevin Kampl has recovered from an ankle problem suffered in the international break and is ready to start on Saturday.
