"Everything that makes us stand out was missing in the first half"

Ralf Rangnick, Marcel Sabitzer and Kevin Kampl give their thoughts after Die Roten Bullen's 3-2 defeat to Salzburg

RAlf Rangnick:

  • "We are extremely disappointed with the result and how we played in the first half. We began to get back into the match in the second half as was necessary given the 2-0 deficit."

"We saw with our substitutions that we could've played better. At least the team's attitude impoved. We have to come together as a team ahead of the Frankfurt match and deliver a much better performance."

MArcel Sabitzer:

  • "In the first half, we were missing everything that makes us stand out. We responded after half-time and showed that we were not giving up on the match. We got stronger and stronger and brought the match back to 2-2."

"Despite our efforts, we came away from the match empty handed as we conceeded an unlucky goal late on. We cannot concede three goals at home. Of course we are very disappointed as we had expected to take more from the match."

Kevin Kampl:

  • "It was a poor performance for large spells of the match. At least we came out and fought hard after half-time. We could have secured ourselves a point but we couldn't hold on."

"We now have a lot of work to do, most importantly improving our defence. We have a lot to learn from this match."
