RBL recorded their second win in a week, beating TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 2-1 thanks to a brace from Yussuf Poulsen. Die Roten Bullen got their first away win of the season in an intense game that had a high tempo throughout.
In the first half, RBL were just about on top from the very start. The best chances fell to Kevin Kampl and Timo Werner, who each hit the woodwork. Leipzig were lucky on the other hand not to concede, when Ishak Belfodil headed the ball onto the crossbar in the 19th minute.
After the break, Yussuf Poulsen proved to be the match winner. The Dane got his first after Werner showed great strength to win the ball on the flank and cross in. The number 9 got his second twenty minutes later, poking in Kevin Kampl’s cross at the near post. Hoffenheim’s reply came from Andrej Kramaric’s injury-time penalty, but ultimately proved to be too little too late, as RBL held on for the win.
