“In games of this magnitude, the little things make the difference"

The thoughts of Ralf Rangnick, Diego Demme, Lukas Klostermann und Yussuf Poulsen after the 4-1 loss against Borussia Dortmund

RAlf Rangnick:

  • “In games of this magnitude, the little things make the difference. I have no complaints about how we played in the first 30 minutes. Roman Bürki was outstanding. We lost the game from set-pieces and balls into the box. Because of this, we weren't rewarded for the massive effort we put in. My team looked fresh and were up for it.

For that reason, I'm not worried at all. Now we're looking ahead. After the game on Thursday we have three home games in a row, which we're all really looking forward to."

  • We were outstanding in the first 30 minutes, but we've got to do even better. We didn't deal with set pieces and balls into the box very well. We gave it our all for the 90 minutes and didn't stop fighting until the full time whistle.

We're very disappointed with the final result. We've got to build on how we played in the first 30 minutes, something which we can do in the 2nd leg of the Europa league play-off on Thursday."

Lukas Klostermann:

  • "We did everything we could in the second half. We intended to defend better, keep the pressure up and stay courageous. It was a very intense match. Unfortunately we won't rewarded for the effort we put in."

Yussuf Poulsen:

  • "Oddly enough, you've got to say that we didn't play badly, despite the scoreline. It's difficult to explain. The first 30 minutes were the best we've played so far this season. We've still got to work on defending set-pieces and defending better. Now we've got to put this game and the result behind us. We've got to give it even more!"
