“We’ll give our all to reach the next round”

Boss Ralf Rangnick speaks ahead of the DFB Pokal home game against TSG Hoffenheim | Forsberg will miss out again due to a groin problem | Saracchi suspended | Everyone else is available.

After Thursday night’s 2-0 win against Celtic and Sunday’s draw against Schalke 04, attention now turns to Wednesday evening’s DFB Pokal match against TSG Hoffenheim, the third home game for RBL in a week. Kickoff is at 20:45 CET in the Red Bull Arena.

Ralf Rangnick gave his thoughts in the press conference ahead of the game.

Ralf Rangnick:

  • “Wednesday's game features a Europa League club vs. a Champions League club, which means it should be a high-quality game. We're looking forward to the challenge.

We saw in our Bundesliga win against Hoffenheim that we can crack them. It's clear what they do well and what defines them as a squad, but we also know where their team is vulnerable. We've got to show that we can find the right way to break them down to give us the advantage on Wednesday.

It looks like it could be a game with few chances to score. Therefore, it’s crucial that we’re not wasteful in front of goal and we take the lead. We'll try to put in a really good performance and give our all to reach the next round.”

Team news:

  • Emil Forsberg will miss out again on Wednesday due to a groin problem.
  • Marcelo Saracchi is suspended due to the red card he received against Viktoria Köln.
  • Everyone else is available.
