Die Roten Bullen will play in the quarter finals of the DFB-Pokal for the first time in their history, beating VfL Wolfsburg 1-0 in a comfortable showing at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday evening.
In front of a crowd of 21,135, RBL started on top and never looked back. Matheus Cunha scored in just the ninth minute, controlling Lukas Klostermann's perfectly-weighted pass with a fine touch before poking the ball home expertedly. Leipzig continued to dominate and had multiple chances before the interval, but failed to capitalise.
Little changed after the break, with Die Roten Bullen having counter attack after counter attack. Despite multiple chances, the match finished 1-0 in what was largely a one-sided affair, and a much-deserved win for the hosts.
The draw for the quarter finals will take place on Sunday at 18:00 CET. The matches will be played on the 2nd and 3rd of April.
