"The willingness of the team to win today was huge"

The thoughts of Ralf Rangnick, Willi Orban, Kevin Kampl and Lukas Klostermann after the 3-2 win against Werder Bremen.

Ralf rangnick:

  • "It was an unbelievably intense game. When you see how both teams performed today, all you can do is take your hat to every single player.
The willingness of my team to win today was huge, especially after all the turning points in the game. We went all-in after bringing Bruma on, because we wanted to get three points today at all costs. The decision paid off!"

Willi Orban:

  • "It's been a brilliant year, and on behalf of the whole team, I want to thank the fans for their incredible support, both at home and away. It's hard to describe how it feels to win here and celebrate together just before Christmas. Thank you, everyone."

Kevin Kampl:

  • "We had a strong first half and deservedly took the lead. After the break, we played too deep and gave Werder too much space, which they punished us for.

Bruma's winning goal was a relief - the whole bench ran onto the pitch, because we wanted to win. We're very proud when we look at the table. We're fourth, still in the cup, and have had a great first half of the season, despite our small squad."

Lukas klostermann:

  • "After a good opening 45 minutes, we lost it a bit in the second half, conceding twice. It was clear that our legs could feel the 31 games we've played so far this season.

Still, we showed more morale and a willingness to win, and can now be happy going into the break. I'll describe my goal in three words: Caught it nicely."
