“We’ll give it our all to win tomorrow“

Coach Ralf Rangnick speaks about the second leg of the Europa League play-off against FC Zorya Luhansk | Saracchi suspended | Kickoff 18:30 (CEST)

After the goalless first leg, Die Roten Bullen welcome FC Zorya Luhansk to the Red Bull Arena tomorrow. Ralf Rangnick spoke about the upcoming clash and the current state of the squad.

Ralf Rangnick:

  • "It's clear that we must win tomorrow. We're assuming that Luhansk will play deep and look to score on the counter or from set-pieces. We've got to stop this from happening, so everyone will have to be on the ball defensively. Up front we've got to be determined and force our opponents to make mistakes. We want to provide a constant threat, use the width of pitch and keep the tempo high.

We'll give it our all to win tomorrow and reach the Europa League group stage. We want to play in Europe again, that's our main ambition. At the same time, we want to improve and gain more experience of playing in Europe."
Defender Marcelo Saracchi is suspended for the game after accumulating three yellow cards so far in the competition.
After Timo Werner only made a substitute appearance against Dortmund on Sunday, it's likely he could start against Luhansk.

  • Emil Forsberg took a knock on his knee in the Dortmund match, and it's unclear if he'll play on Thursday.
  • Marcel Halstenberg has been back training with the team since Monday, but Thursday's game will come too soon for him.
  • Marcelo Saracchi is suspended for the game after accumulating three yellow cards in the competition so far.
