After the 3-2 defeat at home in September, Die Roten Bullen now travel to Salzburg to face the group leaders, a side unbeaten at home for two years.
Coach Ralf Rangnick and Stefan Ilsanker hosted a press conference ahead of Thursday evening's clash with the Austrian champions.
Ralf Rangnick:
- "It is unusual for me coming here as a head coach. It's a special game for many of us. Due to the absentees in the midfield, there will certainly throw up a few surprises with our line-up on Thursday.
It's all about putting the strongest possible team out and playing well. I trust my team to do just that."
Stefan Ilsanker:
- "I'm really looking forward to this encounter. It's nice to play in a sold-out stadium - it will be sensational, I'm sure.
I'm really excited for the game. The home game did not go as we'd imagined. To lose against your dad and your former teammates makes it hurt even more. So I will be giving everything to make sure I leave the ground happy tomorrow."
team news:
- Emil Forsberg remains unavailable with groin problems.
- Diego Demme (calves), Marcel Sabitzer (calves) and Kevin Kampl (ankle) will all miss the Salzburg game due to muscle problems.
