Die Roten Bullen have fallen to a 5-3 defeat in their high scoring friendly against Polish side Pogon Szczecin, despite leading 2-0 and 3-1.
Die Roten Bullen started the match on the front foot and took an early in the 12th minute. Jean-Kévin Augustin slotted the ball home after good build up play from Matheus Cunha to open the scoring. In responce, the visitors attacked a little more as they went in search of an equaliser. Young RBL goalkeeper Marius Müller was forced into action twice to keep the Leipzig lead intact. After another smart save from Müller, Bruma broke on the counter and played in Cunha, who curled the ball home superbly to give Leipzig a two goal cushion. On the stroke of half-time, the visitors hit back as Michal Zyro put them on the scoresheet (38') before Kamil Drygas scored in the last minute of the half (45'). The teams went in level at 2-2 at the break.
Leipzig started the second half as the stronger side and Amadou Haidara restored the hosts' lead in the 51st minute with his first goal for the club. Just a few minutes later, Augustin was denied a second goal by a strong save from Szczecin goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska before the Frenchman was denied once more by some last-ditch defending on the goalline (66'). In the closing stages, Szczecin turned the match around as a Ricardo Nunes free-kick drew them level once more (71') before a quick-fire Santeri Hostikka strike (71') und Hubert Sadowski goal (77') secured a 5-3 victory for the Poles.
