The Bundesliga returns this Sunday at 18:00 CEST, as Die Roten Bullen face 1. FC Nürnberg in the Red Bull Arena, just three days after the away game in Trondheim.
Head coach Ralf Rangnick spoke ahead of the game on the upcoming match-up and his squad.
Ralf Rangnick:
- "You could see against Rosenborg that every player on the pitch really wanted to play. That was one of the main reasons why we won so convincingly. That's when I realised that we have players that start in the DFB Pokal, Europa League and Bundesliga that really care for all three competitions.
We are now more compact and composed when the opposition have possession. It's therefore only logical that we allowed fewer shots on target. we also now find more good situations to allow us to push forwards and attack at a lightening quick pace. Now we just have to work on it consistently and, if we do that, we have a good chance of winning more games.
The upcoming game against Nürnberg will require a much more physical aspect of our play than the match in Trondheim did. Nürnberg will try to make our life difficult, particularly in defence.
We have to go to the game on Sunday with a desire to win - if we do that, we have a good chance of winning. We are going to put a lot of effort in to try and come out on top."
SQUAD UPDATE:
- Emil Forsberg is back in team training after overcoming an adductor problem and is an option for Sunday.
- Kevin Kampl (cold) and Dayot Upamecano (muscle issues) trained individually on Friday and should return to full team training on Saturday. Both will be available for the match against Nürnberg.
