Head coach Ralf Rangnick gave his thoughts on the game and an update on current squad news.
- “I believe Nürnberg will play compact like they did against Dortmund. We're therefore preparing for this. Should Nürnberg line up differently, then we can also deal with it.
- We lost twice in Nürnberg in the 2. Bundesliga. This time, however, we have almost all our players available. We know that the game won’t win itself, but we’ll go into it with a lot of confidence. We want to win and we need the right approach to do that."
- “I’m happy with our defensive stability in recent months. Our aim on Saturday is to play well off the ball, stay strong in defence and aim for a clean sheet.
- Everyone in our team wants to play in the Champions League next season. They're all hungry for success and want to have the best possible season. It's a matter of inspiring the lads to want to win every game before they step on the pitch."
Timo Werner was feeling the aftereffects of his illness in training yesterday. A decision on whether he travels will be made after today's training session.
Willi Orban, Diego Demme and Stefan Ilsanker are all on four yellow cards and will get a one-match ban if they pick up a caution in Nürnberg.
Atinc Nukan is ill and can’t train at the moment.
Amadou Haidara is getting closer and closer to returning to training. He’s developing well at the moment.
Dayot Upamecano will start to train again in the first couple of weeks following the international break, if everything goes to plan.
