"We have a huge chance on Friday!"

Ralf Rangnick looks ahead to Friday's clash in Hannover | Kevin Kampl ruled out with flu | Timo Werner (suffering a cold) and Bruma (recovering from ankle injury) both doubts

In the opening fixture of matchday 20, the Roten Bullen face Hannover 96 away from home on Friday evening (20:30 CET). Leipzig will hope to build on Sunday's impressive 4-0 win in Düsseldorf.

Ralf Rangnick:

  • "Of course we received some information following Hannover's decision to change coaches. Thomas Doll is a very nice person and we got one well with each other when our clubs have met in the past in the Bundesliga. In the short-term, he will try to raise the trust in his team and get them to play to their strengths.

For me, it's important that we try to play against Hannover like we played against Düsseldorf. We have to be aggressive and determind once again, especially when our opponents have the ball. We made it difficult for Düsseldorf to get near to our box. If we play like that against Hannover, we have a good chance of winning. We have a huge chance on Friday and we want to take it!"

Team news:

  • Kevin Kampl will miss the trip to Hannover as he is currently suffering from the flu.
  • Timo Werner (suffering from a minor cold) and Bruma (ankle injury) are both doubts for the match.
  • Ibrahima Konaté and Diego Demme have both received four yellow cards so far this season, leaving them just one away from a one match suspension.
  • The referee for the match is Daniel Schlager from Hügelsheim.
