"It's a six pointer for us"

Coach Ralf Rangnick speaks ahead of the home match against Borussia Mönchengladbach | Kevin Kampl and Marcel Sabitzer's availability to be decided on after Saturday's final training session | Diego Demme a doubt

Die Roten Bullen start the Christmas month by welcoming second-placed Gladbach to the Red Bull Arena on Sunday at 15:30 CET.

In the press conference ahead of the game, Coach Ralf Rangick spoke about the upcoming match, and gave an update on the fitness of the squad.

Ralf Rangnick:

  • "Gladbach are one of the best footballing sides in the Bundesliga. They're confident, but we can hurt them. It's important for us to get our players fit and show why we're a good side. If we put in a good performance, I'm confident we'll walk away with the three points. I'm convinced that we will see a top game."

It's fortunate that a few of the lads are coming back to fitness at the right time. They will help us to implement our gameplan, both on and off the ball. We're confident that we can beat every team we come up against in the Bundesliga, and we're taking this approach with us into Sunday's game.

We'd like to try and get as many points as possible up until Christmas. It's a six pointer for us and we want to stay towards the top of the table by getting a win. My team must believe in themselves and put on a good display."

squad update:

  • Marcel Sabitzer und Kevin Kampl trained with the full squad on Friday. They will be judged fit based on how they fare in Saturday's final training session.

  • Diego Demme trained individually on Friday, and should train with the full squad on Saturday. However, he is a doubt for Sunday's game.
  • Marcel Sabitzer has accumulated four yellow cards this season - one more would see him suspended for one game.
  • Emil Forsberg is still out injured.
