"We need the right plan"

Coach Ralf Rangnick speaks ahead of Saturday's away match vs. SC Freiburg | Emil Forsberg remains on the sidelines | Kevin Kampl still a doubt

On Saturday, Die Roten Bullen travel to play thirteenth-placed Freiburg. Kickoff in the Schwarzwald-Stadion is at 15:30 CET.

Ahead of the game, Coach Ralf Rangnick spoke about the upcoming match as well as the current state of the squad.

Ralf Rangnick:

  • "Freiburg cover the most ground in the Bundesliga. There's a massive readiness to help each other in their team. We won't get many chances to score. It'll be anything but an easy game for us.

Freiburg are really passionate and motivated in their play. What they've achieved in the last 20 years is really great. In the meantime, the club has developed into an established Bundesliga club.

We need the right plan to take back three points with us. We won 4-1 at home last year in an excellent performance, so of course I want us to take a similar approach for Saturday's game.

We've worked especially hard in training this week on what to do against a well set-up and defensive-minded opponent, and we've also trained set-piece situations."

team news:

  • Emil Forsberg remains out on the sidelines.

  • Kevin Kampl trained individually on Thursday due to a light infection. He is a doubt for Saturday.

  • Marcel Sabitzer has accumulated four yellow cards this season. A fifth would result in a one-game suspension.
