In front of 38,330 spectators in the Red Bull Arena, RBL drew 0-0 with Frankfurt on Matchday 21. Die Roten Bullen kept the visitors comfortably at bay, and had they taken the three points, the win would have been fully deserved.
Both teams started off strongly, looking to attack and create chances. Leipzig had the lion's share of opportunities, with Timo Werner unable to tap in Lukas Klostermann's cross in front of goal, and Yussuf Poulsen also going close. The best chance of the half fell to Frankfurt however, with Filip Kostic's brilliant free-kick being parried away by a flying Péter Gulácsi. Both teams went into the changing rooms level at half-time.
After the break, RBL took complete control of the game and started to dominate, creating plenty of chances and exploiting the empty spaces. Despite numerous opportunities, very few were shots on target, and the closest the hosts came was Marcel Sabitzer's shot hitting the post in the 66th minute. Depsite Leipzig's pressure, Frankfurt stood firm until the end to see out a draw. RBL put in a superb performance and definitely could have won the game, but will nonetheless be pleased with a point against a top attacking side.
