RBL draw Bayern 0-0 in intense match

Tense game ends goalless | 41,939 watch on in the sold-out Red Bull Arena | RB Leipzig now unbeaten in 15 games | Huge fan tifo to celebrate 10 year anniversary

RB Leipzig's 'warm-up' with FC Bayern München ahead of the DFB-Pokal final on 25th May ended goalless on Saturday afternoon. A sold-out crowd watched an intense game, with the title at stake for the visitors.

A brilliant tifo greeted the players as they walked onto the pitch, commemorating the club's 10 year anniversary. And the crowd continued to play their part as the game started, roaring Die Roten Bullen on. Leipzig started the game on the front foot and dominated proceedings until around the 25 minute mark, when Bayern began to take control. Chances proved to be few and far between for either side, however. Leipzig held on thanks to brilliant defensive performances from Péter Gulácsi and Ibrahima Konaté, making sure the score stayed at 0-0 at the break.

Bayern came out the stronger of the two sides after the interval, and thought they had taken the lead through Leon Goretzka in the 50th minute, but his goal was ruled offside. Serge Gnabry hit the crossbar for the visitors as well, although his effort also turned out to be from an offside position. RBL came back into the game in the closing stages, and looked to pile on the pressure. Marcel Halstenberg fired just wide in the 76th minute, before Yussuf Poulsen went close soon after. Die Roten Bullen were unable to capitalise, however, and the game finished 0-0. RB Leipzig are now unbeaten in 15 straight games.

Part II of the Bayern clash will take place in two weeks' time...
The Red Bull Arena was decked in red and white in a tifo to celebrate the club's 10 year anniversary.
