"The little things decided the game today"

The thoughts of Coach Ralf Rangnick, Timo Werner and Péter Gulács after the 1-0 defeat to FC Bayern München.

Ralf rangnick:

  • "The game was an equal one over the course of 90 minutes - a draw would have been fair. Unfortunately, we didn't defend well enough in the 83rd minute, and Franck Ribéry did the rest.

I'm very pleased with my team's performance. We'll go home disappointed, but despite that, there are positives. This display confirmed that we have the right to be where we are.

Now we've got to summon all our strength for the last home game of the year against Bremen this Saturday. We want to win, and then we can look back on a very pleasing first half of the season, that has put us in a strong position."
Timo Werner spoke after defeat in Munich.

Timo Werner:

  • "It was a very hard-fought game. Both sides gave their all. It's just a shame that we didn't get a point, but you must be ready for every eventuality playing here - it just didn't work out today. Despite the result, we can leave with our heads held high."
Péter Gulácsi after the narrow 1-0 defeat to FC Bayern.

Péter Gulácsi:

  • "We played well and we fought courageously. You saw our willingness both in attack and defence. The little things decided the game today. It's a shame that we weren't rewarded for our efforts.

This game should give us confidence for the future, because it was a good performance all-in-all. We were a worthy opponent for Bayern, and next year, we will try to beat them here."
