Players to watch:
The forward has already scored 13 goals for Porto this season – eight in the league, three in the Champions League and two in the Portuguese Cup. The centre forward has also helped out his team with two assists.
The Frenchman mainly plays as an attacking midfielder and poses a real threat, with eight league goals this season. However, he has not yet scored in the Champions League this season.
Iker Casillas is no stranger. The goalkeeper has won the Euros two times (2012, 2008) as well as the 2010 World Cup with Spain. The 36-year-old won the Champions League three times, La Liga five times and the Copa del Rey twice with Real Madrid. He has won the IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper award five times.
The 33-year-old is one of three Pereiras in Porto’s squad (none are related) and competes for the right back position with Ricardo Pereira. He holds the record for most appearances made for Uruguay, with 120 appearances. He won the Copa America in 2011.
After Raphael Wicky (FC Basel) und Viktor Goncharenko (ZSKA Moscow), Conceição is the youngest coach in the Champions League. The 42-year-old Portuguese man played professionally for Porto from 1996 until 1998 as well as in 2004.
Conceição’s sons Rodrigo and Francisco are both under contract at rival clubs – Sporting Lisbon and Benfica respectively. Conceição scored all three goals in Portugal’s 3-0 win over Germany at the 2000 Euros.
