"We're in a good position going into the second leg!"

Ralph Hasenhüttl, Emil Forsberg, Kevin Kampl und Péter Gulácsi give their thoughts on the 1-0 win over Marseille at home

 Ralph hasenhüttl:

  • "We're obviously very proud that we were able to win tonight. Marseille put their defensive quality on full display and we needed a bit of time to break them down.

We've put ourselves in a very good position going into the second leg and also managed to keep a clean sheet for the first time in a European competition. We still have much to do to get through though."

  • "It was a close game which we managed to swing in our favour. Marseille sat back very deep, but we still managed to score a goal and most importantly not concede one ourselves. We'll be going into the second leg full of confidence. It's great to see how we keep improving from game to game.

I want to also thank the fans for providing such brilliant support. They were like a twelfth man on the pitch and it's great that we managed to repay them with a win!"

 kevin kampl:

  • "It was important that we established a lead going into the second leg. And with the 1-0 win, we did just that. It will still be a very difficult game in Marseille, but we proved today that we're capable of getting a result.

I think that Marseille will do a lot more going forward in the next game. They were happy to allow us to have possession tonight, but at home they'll do all they can to get through to the next stage of the competition."

péter gulácsi

  • "It was an even game in which both teams were tactically fairly reserved. To win int he first leg is fantastic, but it's still close and we have to score a goal away from home if possible.

We were well organised in defence tonight, but we also had a few periods in which we were too passive. When I noticed that happening, I tried to rile up them up to make sure they remained concentrated."
