Nine RBL players on international duty

Timo Werner and Marcel Sabitzer forced to pull out | RBL goalkeepers go head-to-head | Emil Forsberg's Sweden up against Luxembourd and the Netherlands

There's a welcome break in the busy schedule this week, as international fixtures return. Nine Die Roten Bullen players are away with their respective countries between 5th and 10th October. Here's an overview of everyone on international duty:

Two players were forced to pull out of international duty - striker Timo Werner (neck injury) and Marcel Sabitzer (dental surgery).

Lukas Klostermann

In Group 5 of the European Championship qualifiers, Lukas Klostermann and the Germany U21s first face Azerbaijan at home, and then Norway away. Kick-offs are on 6th and 10th October, both at 19:00 CEST.

Stefan Ilsanker & Konrad Laimer

Stefan Ilsanker was called up by Austria for their World Cup qualifiers against Serbia (6th October) and Moldova (9th October). Konrad Laimer will join the Austria U21s for the games in Russia (6th October) and Armenia (10th October).

Naby Keita 

Naby Keita will join up with the Guinea national team on 7th October for the World Cup qualifier against Group A leaders, Tunisia. In order to keep their World Cup dreams alive, Guinea need a win against their Tunisian visitors.

 Emil Forsberg

Emil Forsberg is in the Sweden squad for their last two World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg (7th October) and the Netherlands (10th October).

Péter Gulásci

Unfortunately for Hungary and Péter Gulásci, World Cup qualification is now impossible. Switzerland (with Yvon Mvogo) and Portugal (with Bruma) can no longer be caught. But Bernd Storck’s team will still give everything in the games against Switzerland (7th October) and the Faroe Islands (10th October).

For our Swiss striker and his national side, all that remains is to secure first place in their group. Yvon Mvogo and his Swiss team-mates have already guaranteed top two, and Portugal are the only other side who could take top spot.

Portugal and Bruma have already guaranteed at least a place in the playoffs. But on 10th October, the game against group leaders Switzerland is likely to decide who will win the group.

After missing the previous internationals through injury, Yussuf Poulsen can now return to the Danish international side. The second placed Scandinavians‘World Cup qualification bid now hangs on their game against third placed Montenegro.
