“We were very good in the first half, despite making a lot of changes from the Monaco game. It was clear we would need a third goal to win, shame we didn’t get it. I can’t fault the effort, but it just wasn’t enough. · Ultimately we can be happy with the point because the opponents were growing into the game and we were reduced to ten men. We need to be cleverer tactically in the future and remain focused on getting the result. It will be difficult next week with the two games – there’ll be a lot of tired legs – but these are the moments you show yourself to be a top team.”
“We took our opportunities better in the first half. After the break we weren’t as dynamic in our challenges and didn’t win as many second balls. Our offensive play wasn’t as smooth as in the first half. We need to make sure we reward our efforts.”
“We started well and played very well in the first half. It was frustrating to concede the first goal but we recovered well to score our second.
“Gladbach showed their quality and at the same time we didn’t get into the game as well in the second half. We showed what we are capable of – two mistakes cost us.”
“It was a game of two halves. We dominated the first and took a lead into half time. Unfortunately we couldn’t get a third one to kill the game off. Their equaliser was tough to take, but we need to take the positives from the first half into the next game.”
“We put in a great performance in the first half, on and off the ball. We created a lot of chances and probably should have scored more. Borussia were a lot better in the second half and we just dropped off and didn’t have the same intensity. We will learn from the match and give our all in the next match. Next up: Augsburg on Tuesday.”
