“We’ve made a step in the right direction”

Reaction from the Dortmund game | Ralph Hasenhüttl, Willi Orban, Konrad Laimer and Péter Gulácsi analyse the match against Borussia Dortmund

Ralph Hasenhüttl:

“All in all, the draw is a fair result. Both teams worked hard for the whole 90 minutes, but had some problems making the right decisions in the final third. You could see that we wanted to win right up until the final whistle.
The point is certainly more valuable for Dortmund than it is for us, but it will be a fight between five teams for three places, so it’s important that we managed to pick up a point today. In comparison to recent games, we’ve made a step in the right direction. We’re playing at home again on Thursday – we’ll have to make more of our chances then.”

Willi Orban:

“It was a great game of football and it was very intense. We defended passionately, but we lacked composure in the transition plays. We were solid in defence against a strong Dortmund side; we pushed forwards and were confident in ourselves. The result is fair as we lacked urgency going forwards in the second half.”

 Konrad Laimer:

“I think we played perfectly well today and fought hard right from kick-off until the final whistle. If we’d been a bit more clinical in the final third, there could have been more in this game for us. We made a few basic mistakes, but we have to look ahead now. At the end of the day, it was a heated game, we got a point against Dortmund and we’re very happy with that.”

Péter Gulácsi:

“We got a point against a direct opponent in the table. 1-1 is a fair result, even if we were a bit stronger in the final 15 minutes. We have to continue picking up points consistently now.”
